About the Herrs: Ed Herr, J.S. Herr, J.M. Herr

At Herr Foods, we are deeply committed to supporting organizations throughout the world that help people live more productive, spiritually enriched lives. Our goals are to provide for those in need and assist those who are working to better their communities. 

We make financial contributions through Herr Foods Inc. and the J.S. Herr Foundation. The J.S. Herr Foundation – created by and named for our founder, James S. Herr – is a private organization that directs monetary donations to worthy charities. 

Each year, we provide financial support to over 1,000 organizations. The following are a representative sampling of these charities:

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is the living embodiment of Alex’s spirit of determination and hope. Like Alex, we believe that every person can make a difference. Together, we can bring about a cure. Please join us in “making lemonade” today!

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service. 

American Heart Association

Our mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. That single purpose drives all we do. The need for our work is beyond question.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation�s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (�Bigs�) and children (�Littles�), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Blood Bank of Delmarva

Blood Bank of Delmarva, a member of America's Blood Centers, provides blood and blood products to 16 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula. More than 350 blood donors are needed every day in this area. This year, about 20,000 patients will need blood transfusions.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the oldest hospital in the United States dedicated exclusively to pediatrics, strives to be the world leader in the advancement of healthcare for children by integrating excellent patient care, innovative research and quality professional education into all of its programs.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment, and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care.

Free Library of Philadelphia

The mission of the Free Library of Philadelphia is to provide to all segments of Philadelphia’s diverse population a comprehensive collection of recorded knowledge, ideas, artistic expression and information in a variety of media.

Golden Slipper Camp

The Golden Slipper Camp is a non-profit, multicultural overnight camp providing a quality camping experience in the Pocono Mountains and other year-round programs to children who might otherwise not have the opportunity.


JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder of and advocate for type 1 diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley

Junior Achievement is passionate people inspiring kids to learn the economics of life through free enterprise education. JA enables caring business professionals to share their experience with students to show them what it takes to be successful. After all, kids are our future.
